Now the summer months were over and school was ready to start.
I was to go back to the two room school, which still included
the 8th grade. But I was talked into going
to the first year of High School. So I ventured out into the
new school. I bought all my books and all the things I
needed. Was doing great and making good grades. Had been going about 3 months when I was called into the into the principal's office. He told me I was doing great and making good grades. My parents said it was ok, as long as I made good grades. But there was a problem, the school that I was to go back to had three other students left in the 8th grade. So they found out I had skipped the eighth grade and started the first year of High School. The parents came to see the principal. He explained to them that my grades were good, and I was doing fine. He knew I had skipped the 8th grade, and he told me I was doing so good, he was going to let me stay. But after the parents of the other three students came and discussed this with the principal, I had to go back to the 8th grade. They had two 8th grade rooms in the basement of the High School. He told me, "I won't send you back to the other school, I'll just let you go here." So he put me in one room and the other three students, two boys and a girl, in the other room so there would not be any trouble between us, and they couldn't bother me. But I also had to ride the bus with them, but they didn't get a chance to poke fun at me, thank goodness. You know how school children are. These three students were well known in the County and community, as their parents had big jobs and would buy them anything they wanted. Everybody did what they said; not fair, but that's how life is. (Sort of like The Jones' which I know everyone has in their community.) Therefore, my new adventure went out the window. But I had a great teacher, so nice, and good classmates.
I finished the 8th grade, had a great time with all
the classmates. I passed all my tests, got my diploma. So now I would
be ready to start over again in the first year of High
School after the summer was over. In the meantime, work time again on the farm... Time flies...high school this time in Chapter 6... ... Home ... |
