Below I share a few of my favorite portions
of Scripture. Take time to read them, meditate on and pray them, and
memorize them too--along with your own favorites!
God bless the reading of His Word...
OLD TESTAMENT
Genesis
Exodus
- And God spake all these words, saying, (Exodus 20:1-17)
- I. I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of
the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no
other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)
- II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow
down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And
shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my
commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)
- III. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in
vain. (Exodus 20:7)
- IV. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days
shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou,
nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor
thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days
the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and
rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it. (Exodus 20:8-11)
- V. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (Exodus 20:12)
- VI. Thou shalt not kill. (Exodus 20:13)
- VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14)
- VIII. Thou shalt not steal. (Exodus 20:15)
- IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. (Exodus 20:16)
- X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt
not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy
neighbour's. (Exodus 20:17)

Psalms
- Psalm 23:1-6 - The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the
still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff they comfort
me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine
enemines: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth
over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of
my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

NEW TESTAMENT
Matthew
- Matthew 6: 9-13 - Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed
be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it
is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
- Matthew 11:28-30 - Come unto me, all ye that labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and
learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Matthew 22:37-40 - Jesus said unto him, THOU SHALT LOVE THE
LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH
ALL THY MIND. This is the first and great commandment. And
the second is like unto it, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS
THYSELF. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Mark
Luke
John
- John 1:1-5 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with
God. All things were made by him; and without him was not
anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was
the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the
darkness comprehended it not.
- John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
- John 3:17 - For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
- John 3:18 - He that believeth on him is not condemned; but
he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Acts
- Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for
there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must
be saved.
Romans
- Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one
that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
- Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit.
- Romans 8:35-39 - Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are
killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 10: 9-11 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raise
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever Believeth On
Him Shall Not Be Ashamed.

Colossians
- Colossians 3:3 - For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father
by him.

without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace,
seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a
good profession before many witnesses.

and the last. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I
come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
